Mike Rumbles MSP has warned the Scottish Government that failing to log ministerial meetings that they had always previously recorded had amplified public suspicion over government dealings.
The North East Liberal Democrat MSP raised the issue with the Minister responsible in a session of Topical Questions in the Scottish Parliament today.
Mr Rumbles said: “Trying to circumvent Freedom of Information legislation by failing to record meeting is hardly open, transparent and conductive to good government.
“It is clear that after a decade in power the SNP have found any number of ways to avoid answering difficult questions about their inept handling of our services.
“This might seem like a minor infraction but what it amounts to is a deliberate attempt to undermine our democratic process. No wonder journalists across Scotland are up in arms and public suspicion is at an all-time high.”
