All have opportunity to vote Lib Dem – Rumbles
North East MSP, Mike Rumbles, has welcomed the opportunity for everyone in the region to vote Liberal Democrat in the May Local Authority elections. This follows confirmation that the Scottish Liberal Democrats will be running a full slate of candidates across the North East.
Mr Rumbles drew attention to the party’s unique position nationally, being pro-UK and pro-EU, as well as the long standing reputation of the Liberal Democrats as local champions for the people they represent. He also noted the change of mood in the region, with many voters expressing dissatisfaction with the status quo and feeling the North East is being ignored.
The North East region covers four local authority areas in full; Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus and Dundee comprising 48 wards, with at least one Liberal Democrat candidate in each.
Mr Rumbles said:
“I am delighted that the Liberal Democrats will be giving local people real choice in the Local Authority elections on May 4th. We have a long standing reputation as the real local champions, fighting hard for our communities and working to make the North East a great place for everyone. Nationally we are also unique, the only party working to protect Scotland’s place in the UK and the UK’s place in the EU. When you vote Scottish Liberal Democrat you will get a hard working councillor, not a cheerleader for independence or a Brexit apologist!
“By the end of the campaign I will have been out and about in every constituency in the region. From Banff to Broughty Ferry I have spoken to people who feel betrayed by the SNP on council tax, business rates and local services. I’ve talked to people who are pro-UK and pro-EU who can’t bring themselves to vote Tory. There is an answer, if you are one of these people, and that’s a vote for your local Scottish Liberal Democrat.”
