Commenting on the Scottish Government’s 2020/21 budget, to be passed at Stage 1 in the Scottish Parliament today, North East Liberal Democrat MSP Mike Rumbles said:
“This budget does nothing to address the concerns of people in the North East. After a decade of underfunding, our healthcare and local services will continue to be among the worst funded in Scotland and we are still at the back of the queue for investment in critical infrastructure such as superfast broadband.
“This incompetent Scottish Government has wasted millions of pounds through financial mismanagement. Including £65 million on top of the ‘so-called’ fixed price contract for the AWPR, over £200 million on two ferries that not even the ferry company wants and £40 million spent propping up a loss-making airport. That money would have been better spent righting the wrongs of years of underfunding by this SNP government of NHS Grampian and our local councils.”
