Commenting on the Chamber of Commerce’s 25th Oil & Gas Survey published this morning, North East MSP Mike Rumbles said:


“Let’s look seriously at the figures released today. Any improvement is to be welcomed, but the global market continues to be in turmoil and it will take several years to make up the ground we have lost.

“The truth of the matter is that neither the Scottish nor UK governments have done enough to support the North East. Two thirds of companies have been forced to reduce staff and almost half have no choice but to cut pay.

 

“For decades we have contributed more than our share to the UK and Scottish economies, so it’s no wonder many people feel let down.

 

“We need a comprehensive Government programme that will help families get back on their feet and give companies the confidence to diversify and take on new staff.”
