Scottish Liberal Democrat rural affairs spokesperson Mike Rumbles MSP has today called out Fergus Ewing for utterly failing to set out any plans for the future of Scottish farming.
Mr Rumbles also grilled the minister about the exclusion of consumer groups and environmentalists from the National Council of Rural Advisers.
Mike Rumbles said:
“Fergus Ewing has once again outlined the ‘cloud of uncertainty’ facing Scottish farming communities while simultaneously failing to come out with any plans for Scottish agriculture post-Brexit.
“Not only have the failings of his department left the rural economy drained of vital financial support over the last three years, he’s now neglecting his duty to safeguard the sector and leaving farmers insecure.
“It’s time for Mr Ewing to stop making excuses and actually tell everyone in the industry what he wants to see for the future of Scottish agriculture.”
