Aberdeenshire East Liberal Democrat Christine Jardine has welcomed assurances from Police Scotland that action will be taken to clampdown on speeding on New Pitsligo High Street.
The move follows Ms Jardine’s reporting of residents’ concerns over the issue to senior police officers.
She said: “I am delighted that the local officers have reacted so quickly to concerns which I raised with them following my November surgery in the village.
“They have now confirmed to me that they will be targeting speeding on High Street during January and February as part of the CEDAR (Challenge, Educate, Detect and Reduce) safety strategy to reduce the number of deaths on our roads each year.
"Officers already carry out speed checks on A950 as part of this strategy and this will be further reassurance for everyone in the village."
