McInnes: Knives have no place in our society

Following reports that six incidents involving knives have taken place in Aberdeenshire and Moray schools in the last month, Scottish Liberal Democrat Alison McInnes MSP said today children must be educated that knives have no place in our society.

Mrs McInnes, who represents North East Scotland, said: "Incidents involving knives in school are very rare - there are thousands of pupils across these two areas, the vast majority of whom are well-behaved and law-abiding. But it is important that Police Scotland and education authorities continue to work closely together to educate children that knives have no place in our society and if they do carry them there will be severe consequences."
