The Scottish Government’s transport secretary was in difficulty during a session of Topical Questions in the Scottish Parliament today, after it was revealed that Scotrail has seen a 72.8% increase in the amount of compensation being paid to customers, topping £1,119,818 for 2018/19.

In answer to a question lodged by Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Mike Rumbles MSP, the Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport has admitted that Scotrail was forced to pay delayed passengers £1,119,818 in compensation, in 2018/19, up 72.8% from £647,670 in 2017/18.

Aberdeen will need 47 new classrooms in the next 18 months – Rumbles

A study carried out by the Scape Group has revealed that Aberdeen City will have 1,400 additional secondary pupils by 2020/21, a 17.5 percent increase requiring 47 new classrooms. By far the largest share increase of any local authority area in Scotland.
