North East Liberal Democrat MSP Mike Rumbles has welcomed a proposed £10million project to build a new adventure centre in Aberdeenshire.
The North East Trail Centre Organisation (NETCO) has launched a survey proposing a mountain bike, snowsports and adventure experience. The survey will end on the 15th of March.
The proposed ‘adventure centre’ would be a 256-hectare purpose built facility located in Durris Forest. The centre would offer year round challenging pursuits to everyone in a natural rural setting.
NETCO is an Aberdeenshire based charity seeking to bring mountain bike facilities to the North East.
Commenting Mike Rumbles said: “Aberdeenshire has the chance to become a destination for adventure sports. This opportunity could leave a great legacy for our area.
“While this centre will be available to everyone it is another opportunity to invest in young people. Physical activity can help develop important skills and the health and mental health benefits cannot be overstated.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Aberdeenshire and I would encourage everyone interested to take the survey. This is the last chance to have your say to ensure we bring this economic boost to our area.”
