Scottish Liberal Democrat business manager Mike Rumbles MSP today called for the Minister for Parliamentary Business to come to Holyrood and explain why the SNP rejected a number of boundary review recommendations from an independent body.
SNP ministers are set to accept some of the independent Local Government Boundary Commission’s suggestions for council ward changes, but turned down others without any explanation.
Commenting Mr Rumbles said:
"We need the boundary review process to be independent and transparent. Any suggestion that there has been any kind of political stitch up on the part of the SNP government can only serve to undermine public trust. Joe Fitzpatrick needs to come to Holyrood and explain his government's pick and mix approach to Parliament."
