Rumbles: Flannel from Scotrail Minister means full plan must be made public

Scottish Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Mike Rumbles MSP has condemned this afternoon’s ministerial statement on Scotrail, as “ministerial flannel”.

The North East MSP has called on Transport Minister Humza Yousaf to publish the full Scotrail improvement plan, with all 240 action points identified along with their time limits.

Mr Rumbles said:

“The Transport Minister has caused confusion and had failed to get to grips with the issues facing passengers.

“I have asked the minister to publish the full and comprehensive list of works planned for the network and their timetable for delivery.

“The minister admitted to me in Parliament that he had only published selected extracts from the plan so far. Passengers will want to see the whole of the plan so that it can be enforced.

“Passengers want action right now. They do not want to wait until 2020.

“Instead of taking this opportunity to set out the detailed emergency measures needed to put the network back on track, the Minister spent his time in the Chamber full of flannel congratulating the Scottish Government for improvements that have yet to be delivered.”
