North East MSP, Mike Rumbles, visited Ardmore distillery in Kennethmont to learn more about the industry’s contribution to the local economy and work to minimise their environmental impact.
As well as discussions regarding the current boom in the industry, Mr Rumbles was shown the facilities water treatment plant, built to filter out harmful by-products of the production process and minimise potential environmental damage.
Speaking after the visit Mr Rumbles said:
“It’s been a fascinating morning here at Ardmore and I am pleased to hear that the industry is currently going from strength to strength. From our discussions it is clear that the distillery is an important part of the local economy and will continue to be so, creating jobs for local people.
“I am also pleased to hear that Ardmore are being proactive in their approach to the environment and are taking steps to minimise environmental impact, such as with their water treatment plant.”
